As the sun sets on another thrilling karting season, we find ourselves looking back on a plethora of adrenaline-pumping moments and awe-inspiring performances.
Naturally, we take immense pride in the significant contribution of Tillett kart equipment to some of the most notable victories and accomplishments in the world of karting this year. Let's take a moment to revisit a selection of our favourite highlights...
The pinnacle of our karting year unfolded at the 2023 FIA Karting World Championships in Wackersdorf, Germany, which saw Tillett-equipped drivers seize all three podium places in the KZ category. Italian Paolo Ippolito was crowned KZ World Champion, leading a Tillett podium lockout with Viktor Gustafsson and Stan Pex securing second and third places, respectively.
In the KZ2 World Cup, Niels Tröger's victory marked a historic German win on home soil, reinforcing Tillett's global dominance.
The event marked a resounding victory for the Tillett team, showcasing the unparalleled performance of Tillett kart seats and protection systems.
Serving as a stepping stone to the worlds, the European Championship delivered some epic racing this year, with rising British star Freddie Slater securing the KZ2 European Championship at the Circuito Internazionale Napoli, Italy in July.
Already an OKJ European and World Champion, Freddie won using the same Tillett seat and body protectors we make available for all drivers.
Towards the end of the season Tillett were still picking up major results, with the OK and Junior World Championships held at Franciacorta in Italy delivering some of the most exciting racing of the year. We’d like to give a huge congratulations to Tillett powered driver Dries van Langendonck who was crowned OKJ World Champion 2023.
Tillett has always taken immense pride in fostering the growth of promising young drivers, recognising that identifying and nurturing talent from an early age is crucial to shaping future stars.
Two such talents to watch closely in the coming years are Noah Wolfe and Noah Baglin. British MiniMax Champion Wolfe has been behind the wheel since the age of 5, competing since the age of 8 and achieving notable success on tracks across the UK and Europe. Meanwhile, the younger Noah Baglin is displaying tremendous potential, securing a victory in the Italian MINI GR3 at the Franciacorta Karting Track this year.
Introduced last year, the Tillett P1 Defender was designed to exceed the FIA 8870-2018 safety specifications which are now mandatory in all CIK FIA karting events. As the thinnest rib protector on the market, the P1 Defender set new standards in karting safety and protection on launch, and as a result gained substantial attention throughout this year. Swiftly establishing itself as the premier high-end rib protector globally, the P1 Defender's remarkable success prompted us to enhance its protection capabilities further, and launch a diverse range of new chrome colorways.
This year, Tillett embarked on an extraordinary venture by teaming up with Latvian-based kart maker Blue Shock Race to establish a new electric kart world speed record.
Taking place at the 20th-anniversary celebration of the world's first sustainable race track, Gotlandring in Sweden, the event saw driver Leo Obrant reach an impressive top speed of 163 km/h (101.3 mph) using a kart that was essentially a readily available, off-the-shelf model. The record-setting kart featured a BSR Powertrain and battery, running in a Birel ART chassis, and, of course, a Tillett seat.
