TILLETT HONDA CHAINGUARD (2020 MODEL).

Product Details

Tillett Racing Seats were the first company in the world to develop an enclosed guard for kart racing. Enclosing the rear sprocket with a compliant chainguard is now a legal requirement in kart racing regulations. The guard not only deflects a thrown chain but also prevents body parts encountering the spinning sprocket.

This latest model uses extremely strong materials, the shape has been modified to cope with the extra width of thick plastic sprocket protectors. This extra clearance avoids the bolts cutting into the guard when the guard flexes. This is a high-quality composite part, made using Tillett’s unique composite manufacturing process. It is 25% lighter than the previous model and 40% lighter than plastic guards.

KEY FEATURES

  • Main material: fibre reinforced composite.
  • Composite materials make the guard lighter and more rigid than the Nylon version.
  • Approximate weight 195g.
  • There is now two finishes available, Clear translucent composite which is the standard model or Carbon surface finish (CHCARFIBTAG). Please note both finishes have the same qualities and weight, this is purely for appearance purposes.
  • Three types available in the Composite guard fibre. This model is the HONDA version. The two additional composite models can be seen listed below - ROTAX & IAME/X30 & OK
  • The guard needs to be coupled with the new taller design of Honda fitting bracket (CHKIT4). The guard and new taller bracket are made to match the new UK 2020 style GX160 Cadet exhaust, at the same time allowing the kart chassis to be dropped lower without fouling larger sprockets.
  • Encloses rear sprocket for safety.
  • The guard helps to stops chain lubricant from flicking.
  • Designed and manufactured in the UK.
  • The RHD and LHD 100cc, old version Rotax/ KF and Honda composite guards are now discontinued.
Features
1. Factors to consider

There are many factors to consider when choosing a new kart seat.
If you have had a seat in the past. Do you know the size and shape?

2. Choose a Shape

Shape does not make as much difference as the teams would have you believe, but they will be nervous of miss positioning the seat and may want you to use the shape they are used to fitting.

This is fine until the seat is not the right fit for you. An ill-fitting seat can cause a driver to damage their body or hang on the wheel, neither are good for ultimate performance.

Different shapes put in the chassis with the drivers back in exactly the same place, made with the same materials will pretty much handle the same.
That said a significant angle change of the back will alter the handling especially for bigger driver and this should be looked at separately.
